Winter isn’t over yet and that means there are plenty of viruses still circulating the air. If you are trying to reduce your risk of illness and keep a healthy climate in your home, here are some solutions.
#1: Keep your temperature even.
Determine what the ideal temperature of your home is and stick to it. Using a programmable thermostat is one of the best ways to do this. These innovative thermostats allow you to control the temperature of your home with incredible accuracy, no matter what time of day or night it is. Control these wireless thermostats from anywhere in the world that you are. They also work alongside any existing heating system! Program the thermostat to your desired temperature and you won’t have to worry about it again.
#2: Breathe cleaner air.
Did you know the air inside your home is often dirtier and more polluted than outside air? One way that you can bolster your indoor air quality and breathe cleaner air is by using an air purification system in your home. These systems zap and kill allergens, mold spores, bacteria, viruses, and more. That means you’re truly breathing cleaner air. And, you will reduce your risk of exposure to illness and germs. Here are the details about some of our favorite air purification systems.
Evolution® Perfect Air ™ Purifier:
This system is incredibly efficient and cleans the air in your home in seconds. One of the best features is the Capture and Kills™ technology that catches up to 99% airborne germs, viruses, bacteria and mold, then zaps them with an electrical charge to eradicate them.

Do you have a furnace in your home or business? Don’t forget to keep the filters clean and/or replaced regularly. These filters are designed to protect your equipment from debris and dust. If they are neglected, they can get clogged, which will jeopardize the system’s operational capacity. In addition, its performance could be hindered. Here are some reasons why you should stay on top of air filter cleaning and/or replacement.
#1: You’ll prevent damage to your system.
When dust, debris and other particles enter your heating system due to clogged filters, the grime will build up on the moving parts inside the machine, including on the fan or motors. This causes the system to work hard and could prevent airflow. Over time, this wears on the machine and the parts could break down prematurely. The result: expensive repairs or even a full system breakdown.
#2: You’ll save energy.
Whether you’re looking to save money or you want to do your part in minimizing your negative impact on the environment, saving energy is a win-win for everyone. Dirty filters make your machine work harder. This translates to more energy and power use. Clean filters allow the machine to work as efficiently as possible, which means less energy is consumed.
#3: You’ll keep your system working longer.
It’s no secret that your home’s heating system is a big investment for your home. Because they are expensive to replace, you’ll want to keep them running as long as possible. By taking care of it with regular preventative maintenance in addition to cleaning/changing the air filters, the lifespan of the system is longer. Neglecting these tasks means you could risk premature system breakdown.
We recommend changing/cleaning your air filters every 1-2 months. However, if you own pets or you have a high level of contaminants making their way through the air, you may need to do this more often.
So, if you have concerns about the functioning of your heating system, contact our experienced team of technicians at Metro Air Heating and Cooling. Whether it’s preventative maintenance, a repair, or a full replacement, we’ll make sure your system is ready to keep you comfortable all year long.
