How To Choose The Right HVAC Company

Written by: Metro Air

Just as you left for work this morning, your home was at the perfect temperature, but when you come home this evening, you step in and notice that the temperature feels stifling and stagnant. You know that you set the thermostat to a cool 72 degrees before you left, so what happened? After a little bit of inspection, you realize that your HVAC system has completely broken down and it is unusable. You feel a little bit of dread starting to creep in.

What should you do?

Should you go online and do a Google search for a random company nearby your home or put out a query on social media asking for advice? Should you read reviews online? You’re probably starting to feel overwhelmed, and there is no doubt a variety of companies in the area that would love your business.

So, how do you choose which heating and cooling company to hire?

When your system is broken and you’re in need of a repair or replacement quickly, it’s easy to get locked into a decision that is based on convenience or cost only. Oftentimes, the most inexpensive company is the most appealing, because you’ve worked hard for your money and you don’t want to pay an extra amount if you don’t have to. In the HVAC industry, there can often be advertisements and other “bait” tactics that draw people in, but in the end, they turn out to be disappointing for the customer. Sometimes they come with hidden fees or stipulations that you didn’t want in the first place or simply don’t need.

Our advice is to read through customer service ratings and reports on companies in the area – places like Yelp, Google, or Angie’s List. Check out the company’s social media pages as well and read the reviews there, too. Don’t look only at the most recent reviews, either. Take a little bit of time to scroll through and read back through the whole history. This will give you more of a well-rounded view of the company’s service history.  Keep in mind that there likely will always be some negative reviews – one company cannot make everyone happy. However, if you see a lot of negative reviews, keep in mind that it could be a red flag. The consistent theme in the reviews should be quality workmanship, outstanding customer service, and fair pricing.

There are a lot of great companies out there and not all of them are out there to rip people off. However, it’s important and very necessary to do your research in the very beginning so you know what you’re getting into. A little research goes a long way and could save you thousands of dollars in the long run.

3 Ways Your Home Can Benefit From a Ductless System

Written by: Metro Air

Summer is coming to a close and that means we’ll say goodbye to the heat for a while. If you’re thinking ahead on how to stay comfortable throughout the autumn and upcoming winter months, we can help. A ductless system is a great solution. Here are some ways your home can benefit from a ductless system.

#1: They’re energy efficient.
If you want to save money, save energy, and stay comfortable, a ductless unit is the perfect answer. These systems do not use excessive amounts of electricity like some heat sources like wall heaters, old furnaces, or baseboard heaters. Turning on your ductless unit means you’ll not only be doing something good for the environment you live in, but you’ll also likely see a reduction in your utility bills, which is great on your bank account.

#2: They’re convenient.
If you don’t have ductwork in your home, that’s not a problem! Ductless units are a wonderful solution for homes that do not have previously installed ductwork. They provide both heat and cool air throughout the year. That means when it’s cold outside, you can turn on the heat and when it’s hot outside, you can turn on the air conditioning, with one unit and one thermostat. It doesn’t get more convenient than that! No matter what the temperature is like outside, you can be comfortable inside.

#3: They’re simple to maintain.
You don’t need to worry about a huge maintenance list with a ductless system. All you need to do is regularly clean your filters – either monthly or bi-monthly – and schedule a routine tune-up appointment with our team at Metro Air. Our team will come out and take a close look at your system and make sure everything is working well, that the vents and humidifiers are cleaned, and we will also make sure all the electrical connections are secure. This will ensure that everything is ready to go for the upcoming cooler seasons. No one wants a system break down during a change in weather systems, so be sure to schedule your annual maintenance appointment right away.

Ductless systems are a great, flexible option for many homeowners with varying home styles and designs. We can configure the installation to match your home, whereas traditional HVAC systems cannot. A ductless system could be a great choice for your home, so contact us today for information on which ductless system is right for you!
